Kay Lee Buie, 73, of Rantoul, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2022 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071.
Kay was born Friday, July 29, 1949, in Taney County, MO, the son of George and Tennessee (Dalton) Buie.
Kay was married to Jeannie Bolling on December 10, 1983 at the Old Stone Church in Osawatomie. They made their home at their farm in rural Rantoul, Kansas.
He worked at Union Pacific Railroad as a mechanic foreman for 34 years.
In his younger years, Kay kept busy fixing hot rods and restoring old vehicles. He was a workaholic, stayed busy doing something all the time. He was known as "Mr. Fix It" to many friends and family members. If you needed something fixed, you could count on Kay. His canine companion Abigail was his best buddy. He was often found on his lawn mower, offering a friendly wave to all those passing by.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael Lee Buie, a granddaughter Leah Ellisor, his brother-in-law Jesse Bolling, sister Georgia Crow, and brother Rick Buie.
Survivors include his wife Jeannie of the home; children Kathy (Garrett) Lewis of Parland, Texas, David (Jamie) Dees of Osawatomie, and James (Sarah) Hollon of Garnett; sisters Brenda Swafford of Parsons and Linda Jones of Coffeyville; brother Greg (Rhonda) Buie of Vinita, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren Andrew Dees, Derick Hollon, Matthew Hollon, Kristy Hollon, Tulsa Fite, and Ty Ellisor; 8 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary-Crematory, 305 North Pearl Street, Paola, KS 66071. Family and friends are encouraged to post their condolences and memories on Kay's Tribute Wall.
