Wilma Moriscene McBride, 86, Paola, passed away June 21, 2010 at North Point Skilled Nursing Home in Paola after a short illness. Moriscene was born May 20, 1924, the daughter of George J. and Pearl Rhynerson Spitzenberger in Linn County, Kansas. She spent her lifetime as a resident of this area and attended the Paola Schools. Moriscene had various jobs in Paola prior to her marriage to Everett McBride on September 5, 1947 in Ottawa, Kansas, after which she became a homemaker for the remainder of her life. Moriscene considered being a full-time housewife a career and enjoyed her role as such. She also enjoyed craft work and growing flowers. Since she was never blessed with children, she was interested in her nieces and nephews. Her interests outside the home included being a member of the neighborhood J.U.N. club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her parents and two sisters, Betty Ulery and Ruby Ogrodnik preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Everett, of 63 years; a brother, James Spitzenberger of Osawatomie; a sister-in-law, Hazel Mitchell of Paola; a brother-in-law, Matt Egidy of Paola; and numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice, Paola United Methodist Church, or a charitable organization of your choice in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
