Monty R. Fritts, 57, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Cremation is planned. Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Greenwood Community Building, 2705 Florida Road, Pomona, Kansas. Private inurnment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Monty was born Sunday, October 11, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Richard Valentine and V. Marie (Kline) Fritts. He was a lifelong resident of Ottawa. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1978. Survivors include his uncle, Ewing Fritts of Ottawa; aunt, Opal Fritts also of Ottawa; and many cousins and friends. Monty was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marie Fritts. He was a member of Power of the Past Antique Engine and Tractor Association. Monty was self-employed, owning Monty’s Broasted Chicken in the early 1980’s and he created Monty’s Gourmet Foods, featuring a variety of sauces. He also did volunteer work with KTWU television in Topeka. In later years, Monty helped his father rebuild antique engines.
