Minnie R. “Billie” Leach, 101, of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Wellsville Retirement Community. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 22, 2016, at Evergreen Mound Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Leach from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Billie was born Sunday, August 16, 1914, in Dover, Oklahoma, the daughter of Floyd and Ethel (Gregg) Lee. She moved to this area when she was nine years old, living in the Baldwin- Wellsville area. Minnie was united in marriage with Russell Charles Leach March 12, 1934, in Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death August 18, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clifford Lee and Floyd Lee, Jr.; four sisters, Edna Leach, Josephine Patterson, Fannie Mallicoat, and Opal Markley; son-in-law, Larry Murray; and great grandson, Jaron Leach. Survivors include her four children, Norma Sobba of Ottawa, Russell “Gene” Leach of Baldwin City, Robert “Bob” Leach of Pomona, and Joyce Murray of Wellsville; thirteen grandchildren, Shanlea Jackson, Delana Hay, Dustin Jilek, J.R. Pennington, Debra Bugner, Rob Leach, Rick Leach, Randy Leach, Rhonda Brown, Mark Leach, Dianna Hull, Curt Barkley, and Chris Barkley; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-eight great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Billie was employed for twenty years as a nurse’s aide for Cedar House Nursing Home in Ottawa, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed bowling in the Ottawa Women’s Bowling Association for 29 years.
