Millie Marie Joeckel

Millie Marie Joeckel, age 74, of Hillsdale, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Olathe Hospice House.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 9, 2024, at the First Lutheran Church in Paola. Inurnment will be held at Hillsdale Cemetery.

Millie was born on Sunday, August 21, 1949, the daughter of Gibb and Helen (Johns) Johnson in Paola, Kansas.

In July of 1976, she was united in marriage to Darrell Joeckel.

She took enjoyment in dirt track racing, gardening, floral design, a good margarita and a Bloody Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Darrell; sisters Marjorie Johnson and Alice Zander; and brothers Jim, Gary and David Johnson.

Millie is survived by her sons Gene (Sarah) Wheeler and Bob (Audrea) Wheeler; grandchildren Max Grattan, Johnny Zander,  Anna, Bobby, Karly, James, Noah, Arabella Wheeler; great-grandchildren Oliver, Aubrey, Elanor; sisters Diana Cox and Rose Gailbeau; and brother Gibb Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the First Lutheran Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary-Paola Chapel 305 N. Pearl St. Paola, KS 66071.
