Mildred Parrish

Mildred M. Parrish, age 86, of Ozawkie, Kansas, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on Saturday, November 24, 1923, in Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of Fred Ellsworth and Pauline Faye (Hayes) Parrish. Mildred grew up in Ottawa and raised her children in the Metropolitan Kansas City Area. She was a resident of Ozawkie fifteen years, moving from Peekskill, New York, where she had lived for seven years. Mildred graduated from Ottawa High School on May 27, 1941; University of Kansas on May 22, 1978, with a B.A. degree in Fine Arts; and Emporia State University on May 16, 1980, with her Master’s Degree in Art Therapy. In the 1980’s, she was employed as an Art Therapist in the V.A. Hospital in Westchester County, New York for ten years. She is survived by her: Daughter-Deborah Jarczyk of Kansas City, Kansas; Son-Clinton C. Mallory, II, and his wife, Aurene, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Daughter-Barbara Cole and her husband, William, of Kansas City, Missouri; Daughter-Regina Fryberger and her husband, Steve, of Billings, Montana; Son-Kevin Patrick Mallory and his wife, Mariah, of Northern Virginia; Son-Brett Mallory of Lawrence, Kansas; Grandchildren-Twenty-four and Gt.Grandchildren-Twenty-eight. She is preceded in death by her: Father-Fred Ellsworth Parrish; Mother-Pauline Faye (Hayes) Parrish; Daughter-Darby Nolan; Son-Thorpe Nolan; Brother-Homer Parrish and Grandson-David A. Mallory. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. IN STATE: Mildred will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening and 1:30 Wednesday afternoon prior to services.
