Mildred Baker, 83, of Paola, Kansas died Friday, December 21, 2012 at her grandson"s home. She was born August 2, 1929 in Lebo, Kansas to Joseph Willis and Bertha Marie Criqui Lafferty. She married Paul Sell on April 2, 1947 which later ended in divorce. She married Lewis Baker on April 26, 1953 making their home in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1970 they moved to Wellsville, Kansas. After 19 years of marriage to Lewis ended in 1973, Mildred moved to Paola in 1980. She worked for the IRS for 22 years and retired in 1989. She fell ill the last five years of her life. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, one infant and Leroy, John, Albert, Stephen, Elbert "Gene" Lafferty and Herman Haberland; sister Rose Doody; son John R. Baker; and grandsons Jonathan and Michael Gum-Baker and Kenneth Sell. She is survived by her daughter Karen S. Baker of the home; sons Ronald and Michelle Sell of Auburn, Charles and Marina Baker of San Antonio, TX, and B. Dale Baker of Topeka; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; brothers Joseph Lafferty, Jr., of Lowry City, MO, Owen "Jim" and Patricia "Pat" Sullivan of Scranton; sisters Arlene and Carl Kraus, Alice Kuhnhoff of Osceola, MO, Sylvia Keith of Walker, MO, and Merle and Larry Parsons of Scranton. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She"ll always be in our hearts. We miss you Mom.
