Michael T. “Mickey” Allen, 62, Of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends following the service hour. Burial, Highland Cemetery at a later date. Mickey was born May 1, 1957, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of James and Carol (Schaben) Allen. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident. Mickey graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1975 and was a student in the department of Automotive Technology at Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Kellee Miller September 12, 1981, in Ottawa. They were married for 23 years. Mickey started his career at Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant, Burlington, Kansas during its construction as a pipe-fitting foreman. Later he was the owner of A-Automotive at 1st and Main Street from mid-1980’s to the early 2000’s. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ottawa and attended Ottawa Community Church. He was also a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie #2700 and the Over the Road Gang both of Ottawa. Mickey had a love for buying, selling and working on cars. He especially liked working on his red 1970 Chevelle. He also loved watching sports, boating at Pomona Lake, and listening to classic rock. Mickey always said his greatest accomplishments were his two daughters, Mikala and Paige. Survivors include daughters, Mikala Allen and husband Dan Brown of Kansas City, Missouri and Paige Allen and partner Caleb Reed of Gardner, Kansas; mother, Carol Allen of Ottawa; brothers, Roger Allen of Ottawa, Kevin Allen and wife Faith of Houston, Texas; sister, Elaine Morris of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Allen. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Legion Baseball c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Contributions will be used for the annual Jim Allen Memorial Wood Bat Tournament.
