Michael Stallbaumer

Michael P. Stallbaumer, 56, of Paola, passed away at his home on October 12. Mike was born on October 7, 1952, in Seneca, Kansas, to Suitbert V. and Elizabeth Hutfles Stallbaumer. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1970. Mike enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1972, and served until 1976. Mike worked in sales for Winterscheid Auto Parts in Paola from 1976 until retiring in 2004, and he worked as a custodian for Paola Middle School from 1991 to the present. Mike was a sports enthusiast, and he especially enjoyed watching the Kansas Jayhawks. Other favorites included taking trips to Florida, challenging family with trivia from the old Andy Mayberry television shows, family croquet and pitch games, and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. Mike was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Colson on August 10, 1974, in Paola, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lucille Eisenbarth and Peg Osterhaus, and brothers Butch, Terry, and Daniel Stallbaumer. Surviving are his wife Cathy, of the home, son Matthew and his wife Kristina Stallbaumer, of Brandon, Florida, daughter Melissa and her husband Craig Browning, of Paola, Kansas, and three grandchildren, Cameron, Reese, and Madyson. Other survivors include sisters Mary Ann Grollmes of Netawaka, KS, Janice Jenkins of Paola, KS, Barbara and husband Leon Osterhaus of Seneca, KS, and brothers Ervin and wife Ann of Tulsa, OK, John and wife Susan of Hoyt, KS, Lester and wife Delores of Holton, KS, Jim of Cincinnati, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 16, at 10:0 a.m., Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Rosary will be Wednesday, 6:00 p.m., with visitation from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel, 305 N.
