Michael Ray Sayler

Michael “Mike” Sayler, 75, of Topeka, KS, formerly Princeton, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

He was born November 7, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Robert Leo and Ida Faye (Bowden) Sayler. He was a 1967 graduate of Central Heights High School, Princeton, KS.

Mike was blessed to have learned his remodeling skills from his father. He owned and operated Sayler Remodeling in Ottawa and later in Topeka, for over 50 years until retiring.

Mike married Debbie Silkey on September 15, 2001 in Topeka. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include two children, Jana Norris and Michael Sayler; four grandchildren; and his sisters, Eva (Bob) Trober of Kansas City, KS and Roberta (Bill) Lloyd of Princeton, KS; and two brothers, Buddy Sayler of Kansas City, KS and Jerry (Cynthia) Sayler of Princeton, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol Walker; his brother, Jess Sayler; and his niece, Deirdre Marie Sayler.

Mike loved spending time with his family and was considered a father figure to his younger siblings after his father’s passing. He enjoyed camping, going on Carnival cruises, puzzles, cooking and his 1972 El Camino.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067.
