Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place following the service at Bucyrus Cemetery.
Michael was born on Tuesday, June 28, 1983, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Michael Elwood Sr. and Candace (Lambeth).
He grew up in the Louisburg area and attended the Louisburg school district.
Growing up, Michael enjoyed doing all things outdoors including weekend trips to the lake, fishing at the local ponds, exploring the neighborhood and camping out in backyards with neighbor friends. Michael also enjoyed playing sports when he was young. Michael spent his early adult years learning many different trades. He became skilled in electric work, plumbing and general construction. He spent a lot of time working with his dad and Uncle Pat in their family construction business. Michael also had the opportunity to live in Alaska. After 3 years, he decided he wanted to be closer to home. Michael was a “plant whisperer” and loved tending to different types of plants and flowers. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends. Michael was always happiest doing things for others. He had the kindest heart and genuinely cared about those around him. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. Michael will be missed more than words can describe, and we know in our hearts that heaven will give him the unconditional peace and happiness that eluded him here on earth.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Michael Elwood Sr., maternal grandparents, Johnny and Debbie Lambeth, aunt, Rita Richards, and uncle, Pat Elwood.
He is survived by his mother, Candace (Larry) Prettyman, three sisters: Erica (Billy) Bradshaw, Rachel (Clinton) Humphrey, and Lauren (Grant) Ewing, paternal grandparents, Gerald Elwood Jr. and Doris Elwood, and six nieces and nephews: Charlie, Abby, Nora, Mariella, Rhett, and Nash.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to the Elizabeth Layton Center, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669 Louisburg, KS 66053.
