Michael Jerry Elwood Sr., age 53, of Louisburg, KS, died Friday, July 31, 2009 at his home. Visitation will be from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Penwell-Gabel Louisburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2009, at the Bucyrus Methodist Church, with burial in the Bucyrus Cemetery. Mike was born April 5, 1956 in Olathe, KS to Gerald O. Elwood, Jr. and Doris M. Elwood. He graduated from Louisburg High School in 1974. He worked in construction most of his life. He had his own business building custom homes. For the past 8 years, Mike worked with his brother Pat remodeling homes. He enjoyed weekends at the lake, making people laugh, and helping others. He was a great husband and father and loved his family very much. He was a good son and brother and had many friends. Survivors include his wife, Candy of the home; daughter, Erica and husband Matt Hill, grandson Charlie and granddaughter Abby of Olathe, KS; son, Michael, Jr. of the home; daughter Rachel and husband Clinton Humphrey of Gardner, KS; daughter, Lauren Elwood of Overland Park, KS; parents, Jerry & Doris Elwood of Bucyrus, KS; sister, Rita and husband Weaver Richards of Cleveland, MO; sister, Linda and husband Mick Town of Somerset, KS; sister, Cheryl and husband Mark Dulaney of Bucyrus, KS; brother, Pat and wife Shelby of Overbrook, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
