Michael Ames

Michael Gene Ames, 64, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019, at Riverside Nursing and Rehab, Riverside, Missouri. Mike was born Saturday, July 16, 1955, in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Richard E. and Shirley (Mockabee) Ames. Mike graduated from Paola High School and then attended Electronics Institute. Mike served our country in the United States Army from 1974 until 1979. He was stationed in Germany. He worked as a commercial printer technician for Peak Technology and Data Port for nearly 30 years. Due to health reasons, Mike retired in 2017. He enjoyed woodworking, watching all sports sitting in his recliner, and the love of dogs. Survivors include his mother Shirley Ames of Parkville, MO; sister Vicki Gellhaus (Lester) of Lebo, KS; son Bryan Taylor (Morgan) of Gladstone, MO; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Richard E. Ames and brother Ronald Ames. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2019 at Dengel and Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl Street, Paola, KS, 66071. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Paola Cemetery with military honors.
