Merilyn was the daughter of Larry & Eunice Logan born January 18, 1934. Her early childhood was spent in Maryville MO, alongside her older sister Carolyn Logan Hale and younger brother Kermit Logan. The family moved to Kansas City in 1942, where she later attended Paseo High School and met the love of her life John Ivan Kelly. They were married on March 8, 1952, and enjoyed 72 years together. Together they had 3 sons, Michael, Fletcher, and Christopher and moved from Kansas City to Louisburg, KS in 1963. Along the way her family grew to include 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Merilyn utilized her office skills as an Administrative Assistant for various companies, including Aero Drapery, Graybar Electric, and American Can Company. Later she found fulfillment in a new career field as a Funeral Director at Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Merilyn was an active member of First Baptist Church of Louisburg for over 60 years serving in many capacities as Sunday School teacher, Choir Director, Deaconess, Passion Play participant, VBS and cooking church meals. Her love of children & literature led her to serve many years on the Louisburg Library Board which included dedicating time to read books to young children at the library. Merilyn operated a home business baking cakes for many weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions. She was a familiar face at the Louisburg farmers market where she was a founding member offering fresh eggs and homemade cookies to the community.

Her home was her happy place where farm life gave Merilyn the opportunity to enjoy riding her horse Rhythm for many years, in addition to wrangling cattle, tending garden, canning fruits & vegetables, raising chickens, and preparing meals for family and friends. Her life was always about cheerfully giving and serving others. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her as she was such a bright beautiful light in this world.

She is survived by her beloved husband John Ivan Kelly, her sons Michael (Debra), Fletcher (Judy), Christopher (Cheryl), her sister Carolyn Logan Hale, and her brother Kermit Logan, her grandchildren Megan Kelly (Eli), Shannon Kelly Morris (Christopher), Lauren Kelly, Rodney Caldwell (Shannon), Bruce Caldwell (Susan), Kimberly Kelly Mayberry (Nathan), Karla Kelly, Kristin Kelly Cornelius (Riley), 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
