Mendi Jo Lavender

Mendi Jo Lavender was born on Tuesday, March 27, 1973, in Olathe, Kansas. She was the daughter of Earla R. Schultz. In 1987, Mendi moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the age of thirty-four years. She attended Ottawa High School with the class of 1991. She earned her G.E.D. and studied accounting two years at Neosho County Community College. For the past five years, Mendi has been employed by Castle Creations, an electronic manufacturing company in Olathe, Kansas. She enjoyed her position as a lead productions assembler. Mendi was a loving wife and mother who adored her family. She loved listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. Mendi was a caring person who was always ready to help anyone who needed her. On May 3, 1996, Mendi was united in marriage with Christopher Lavender in Ottawa, Kansas. They had been together as a couple since 1988. He survives of their home. Mendi is survived by her mother, Earla R. Schultz of Ottawa; stepfather, John Singleterry of Walnut, Kansas; three daughters, Michandy Jo Lavender, Kaylie Aleea Lavender, Linda Rene Lavender, one son, Christopher Clay Lavender, II, all of the home; four sisters, Ruby Clark, Charity Schultz, Brandi Singleterry, Amy Singleterry, all of Ottawa; two brothers, Robert Welborn of Rantoul, Kansas, John Hammar of Ottawa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mendi at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
