Melvin Henry Williamson

Melvin Henry Williamson, age 83, of Princeton, Kan., died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. Williamson was employed by University of Kansas. He was the son of the late John Williamson and the late Grace (Becks) Williamson. He has lived in Princeton, Kansas since 1982, moving there from Lawrence, where he had lived since 1968. He had previously lived in Oskaloosa and Eudora. He was employed by Kansas University for 15 years as duplicator-supervisor in the continuing education department, retiring in 1982. He had previously worked for the City of Oskaloosa for 14 years and prior to that, he had worked in road and bridge construction. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Lawrence. On August 19, 1944, Melvin was united in marriage with Evelyn E. Gard at Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1998. He is survived by his : Three Daughters, Daughter-Melva Lee Black of Ottawa, Kan. Daughter-Judith Ann Good of Princeton, Kan. Daughter-Edna Mary Abbott of Grandview, Mo. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Greg Cheatham, Chaplain of Olathe Medical Center. IN STATE: Mr. Williamson will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Cancer Foundation, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
