Melissa Kay DeCock, 45, of Ottawa, passed away Friday April 19, 2019, at University of Kansas Health System. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Melissa was born October 16, 1973, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of John A. McIntosh and Teresa C. McIntosh Coulter. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. Melissa graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1992 and attended Neosho County Community College earning a Certified Nursing Assistant degree in 2015. She was united in marriage to Noel DeCock August 19, 1994, in Ottawa. He survives of the home. Other survivors include children, Caylah DeCock of Ottawa, Miranda DeCock and fiancé Ali Schnauber of Wichita, Noel DeCock Jr. of Ottawa; mother, Teresa Coulter of LeLoup; sister, Angela Moland of LeLoup; brother, Jerry Frye also of LeLoup; grandson, Jaaidon DeCock of Ottawa. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, John McIntosh and stepfather, Lester Coulter. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant since 2015 working for Morningstar Care Homes in Ottawa and Baldwin City for the last 3 years. Melissa enjoyed yard sales, shopping, reading, picture taking and watching her favorite soap operas and Netflix. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children and grandson.
