Mavis Mooney of Ottawa died Friday, December 4, 2009, at The Forum of Overland Park, Kansas. She was 85 years old. Mrs. Mooney worked in the garment industry for twenty-one years before she retired from H. D. Lee in 1981. The daughter of Lawrence William and Bertha Josephine (Vautravers) Likens, she was born December 10, 1923, at Wheaton, Kansas. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1941. She married Frank F. Stultz on May 15, 1943, at Jonesboro, Arkansas. They were divorced. She married Marlin C. Mooney on April 17, 1975, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and a son, Charles G. Stultz. She is survived by two sons, Howard Stultz of Baldwin, Kansas and Donald Stultz of Ottawa, Kansas; two daughters, Carol Bolen of Madison, Kansas and Nancy Trimble of Overland Park, Kansas; a stepson, Jerry Mooney of Greeley, Kansas; and a stepdaughter, Sylvia Land of Quenemo, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. Mrs. Mooney will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where family will meet with friends from 3:00 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon. The family suggests memorial contributions to Disabled American Veterans, in care of the Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through dengelmortuary@sbcglobal.net
