Maurine Bond

December 26, 1925 — November 15, 2012

Ruth Maurine Bond of Paola went to join her Savior on November 15, 2012. She was surrounded by her family. Maurine was born on December 26, 1925, the fourth child of Harvey E. and Pearl Musselman Crist, at their farmhouse in rural Miami County, Kansas. She grew up on the family farm attending rural school at Prairie Bell through the 8th grade. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1943. Following her graduation she attended eight weeks of summer school at Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas where she earned a teaching certificate. Due to a shortage of teachers during war time, she began teaching at Poplar Ridge School at the age of 17. At the end of W.W. II, she met her future husband, George Bond who had just returned from overseas duty. They were married at her parents" home on July 7,1946. They were married 53 years until his death in July 1999. Together they raised a family of six daughters and one son. Maurine was a full time homemaker. Her heart was with her family, home and church. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She loved country life and stayed in the family home for two years after George"s death and then moved to an apartment on Lewis Drive in Paola where she continued to be a blessing to her family and friends. Maurine is survived by six daughters, Linda (Stan) Greer of Clearwater, KS, Diane (Russ) Hailey of Lawrence, KS, Alice (Rich) Hutchcraft of Greenwood, MO, Carol (Mark) Fenton of Holton, KS, Janet Wolken (companion Brad Croucher) of Ottawa, KS, Terri (Randy) Madden of Rantoul, KS and one son, Jeff (Kelly) Bond of Louisburg, KS. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren with another due in December. Maurine was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lenora Quellhorst of Paola, KS and Hazel Rader of Homet, CA and a brother, Junior Crist of Wellsville, KS.
