Maud E. Hodges

Maud E. Hodges, 94, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 21, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends following the service. Private family inurnment Bethel Cemetery, Tecumseh, Kansas. Maud was born Monday, March 7, 1921, in Little River, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Marian (Skiles) Keller. She has been a lifelong Kansas resident. During her childhood she lived in Central, Kansas, including Claflin, Lyons, and Holyrood eventually moving to Topeka. In 2000, Maud moved to Ottawa where she made her home until moving to Richmond Healthcare. She received an RN degree from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson, Kansas Maud was united in marriage with Lelton A. Hodges September 12, 1942, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He preceded her in death September 18, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel Hodges; parents, Arthur and Marian Keller; siblings, Arthur Keller, Jr., Marian Louise Gadberry, and John “Jack” Keller. Survivors include her son, Ron Hodges and wife Pat of Ottawa; daughter, Carole Cowden and husband David of Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Donna Lacy and husband Bill of Yates Center; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Maud was a devoted homemaker and also worked as a registered nurse, retiring in the mid 1990’s. She was a private duty nurse working in various hospitals and care homes in Kansas. Her last job was with the Kansas Service League helping physically challenged Foster children. She was a member of North Baptist Church, Ottawa.
