Matthew Craig Rodina, 21, of Ottawa, Kansas died Monday, March 15, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Ottawa University Fredrickson Chapel, 1001 S. Cedar, Ottawa, 66067. Family will meet with friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021, also at Ottawa University Fredrickson Chapel. Matthew was born October 21, 1999, in Olathe, Kansas, the son of Ernie and Connie (Fowler) Rodina. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from West Franklin High School with the class of 2018. Matthew was currently employed with Lewis Toyota in Topeka as a car salesman. He was previously employed as an apprentice with the St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council Local 1127, for one-and-a-half-years. Matthew had a huge heart and would help anyone if he could. He loved his family and being with friends. He attended Homewood Community Bible Church. Matthew loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a sports enthusiast participating and watching KC Chiefs and KU basketball. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William “Bill” Fowler; and grandparents, Ernest Rodina, Sr. and Elaine (Ostrander) Rodina. Survivors include his parents, Ernie and Connie Rodina of Ottawa; brothers, Brent Rodina of Ottawa, Nick Rodina (Megan) of Salina, and Luke Rodina (Jonel) of Newport, Rhode Island; grandmother, Joan Fowler of Wellsville; nieces and nephews, Aidan and Emma Rodina of Salina, and Isabel, Ida, Ruth, and Josephine Rodina of Newport, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Homewood Community Bible Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
