Masayo Bailey

Masayo Bailey was born on Tuesday, February 8, 1927, in Tokyo, Japan. She was the daughter of Shinechi and Riku Mameshiro. In the late 1950's, Masayo moved from Japan to the United States. She lived in Pomona and Wellsville, moving to Lane in 1969, and Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas in 1999, where she made her home until her death on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at the age of seventy-nine years. Masayo graduated from High School in Japan. While living in Japan, she worked as a telephone operator. From the mid 1960's to early 1970's, she was employed as a seamstress for H.D. Lee in Ottawa. She also worked as a machinist for King Radio in Paola fifteen years, retiring in 1990. Masayo was a lovely lady. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend, who cherished her family and grandchildren. She was a talented artist and seamstress and excellent cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and traveling, and had fun going to Casinos. On August 1, 1956, Masayo was united in marriage with Lloyd Bailey in Yokohama, Japan. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2000. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Yasuo Mameshiro. Masayo is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd H. and Beth Bailey of Centennial, Colorado, Dave and Shari Bailey of Ottawa, Kansas, Clint and Dawn Bailey of Osawatomie, Kansas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Scott Hepler of Ottawa, Kansas, Donna and Doug Small of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two brothers, Tsutomu Mameshiro and Matsuchika Mameshiro, both of Tokyo, Japan; fifteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Bailey at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from l:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends following the funeral services on Monday.
