Mary Rose Peuser

Mary Rose Peuser, 80, passed away December 29, 2011 at Olathe Medical Center. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mary Rose was born on April 29, 1931 in Basalt, Colorado to Walter J. and Eva Marie Letty Hyrup. She graduated from Basalt Union High School, she then attended St. Mary"s College in Leavenworth, Kansas and graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. On September 17, 1955 she was united in marriage to Harold F. Peuser in Basalt, Colorado. Together they started a dairy business in Wea, Kansas and moved to the family dairy farm south of Paola in 1961. They were the parents of 8 children. In 1971 she returned to nursing, working at the Osawatomie State Hospital and helping manage the family farm. Mary Rose retired as a nursing supervisor after more than 20 years of service. Mary Rose was very active member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Altar Society. For many years she ministered to the home bound and cared for the church environment. She had a deep faith and loved to attend Mass, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother John Hyrup. She is survived by her children Ann Marie Peuser of Baldwin, Pat Peuser of LaCygne, Dale, Mark, and Pete Peuser and his wife Missy all of Paola, Rita Kennedy and husband Larry of Meriden, Jerry Peuser of Clinton, Utah, and Mike Peuser of Olathe; sisters Eugenia Grant of Basalt, Colorado and JoAnn Grant of Rifle, Colorado; in-laws Mary Peuser, Robert and Bette Peuser all of Bucyrus, Mary Ann Peuser of Gardner, Dolores Meier of Sun City, Arizona, Mike and Joanne McElheney of Tuscon, Arizona, Phyllis Hyrup of Parachute, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 E.
