Mary L. Mary Lu Burgoon, 84, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Ottawa Retirement Village.Family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, April 21, 2014, at Dengel Son Mortuary. Mrs. Burgoons wishes were for cremation. Inurnment services will be held at a later date.Mary Lu was born on Monday, May 13, 1929 in Ottawa, the daughter of Glen Earl and Clara Ellen (Williamson) Sinclair.She was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1947.On May 31, 1947 Mary Lu was united in marriage with David Ray Burgoon in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Glen Burgoon; and her parents.Survivors include her children, Richard Burgoon and wife Marla of Ottawa, Patty Cromwell and husband Roger of Ottawa, and Randy Burgoon of Fairway, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Shane Robbins, Chad Burgoon, Tye Burgoon, Rick Bishop, Steven Bishop, David Burgoon and Kizlena Ray; ten great-grandchildren, Steven, Dillon, Shane, Joseph, Raeleigh, Ethan, Sophie, Connor, Garrett and Jordan; one great-great-grandson, Bentley; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Sickels of Martinsville, Indiana. Mary Lu worked for Parmalee Products in assembly when they first opened, Hawthorne School as an aid and then in food service, at several Ottawa schools, for six or seven years and the Senior Center. She was also a Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for many years.She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 Auxiliary, Aerie Lodge 2700 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Ottawa Womens Bowling Association and former team event state champion.
