Mary Jean Tobler

Mary Jean Tobler was born August 2, 1922, at Salina, Kansas. She was the daughter of Wesley Oscar and Anna Mary (Wingard) Fanson. Mary lived in Salina until the age of ten, moving with her family to Natoma, Kansas. She also lived in Onega, Topeka, Lyndon, and Olivet, Kansas, moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in 1968, where she made her home until her death Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at the age of eighty-two years. She was a homemaker. She was also a secretary for the Osage County Sheriff's office and a Certified Nurses Aide at nursing homes in Ottawa. During World War II, she was a telephone operator in Topeka. She was a member of First Christian Church, Oasis Club, Better Homes E.H.U., and Hope House, all of Ottawa. She was also a member of Miriam Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star of Emporia, earning her fifty-year pin in 1992. In 1943, Mary was united in marriage with William Edward Gibson, Sr. at Topeka. They were later divorced. In 1953, Mary was united in marriage with Harold Edward Tobler at Lyndon, Kansas. They later divorced. Mrs. Tobler is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William Edward and Wilma Gibson of Hawthorne, California; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Bob Redeker of Ottawa; daughter-in-law, Karen Gibson of Ottawa; nine grandchildren, Eddie Gibson, Andrew Gibson, John Gibson, Jr., Carey Lantis, Tamra Coopman, Jean Redeker, Jan Wallis, Bobby Redeker, Elizabeth Redeker; twelve great-grandchildren, Cassidy Rose Coopman, Brady Alan Wallis, Victoria Elizabeth Coopman, Blake Robert Wallis, Brent DeWayne Lantis, Aidan John Gibson, Alexandra Grace Coopman, Caden Matthew Redeker, Mya Ann Gibson, Levi Wesley Lantis, Zachary Gibson and Trevor Gibson. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Wesley Gibson; sister, Loretta Herrmann; two brothers, Harry Fanson, Ralph Fanson; and great-grandchild, Daniel Redeker Coopman. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Katrina Palan. IN STATE: Mrs. Tobler will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 6 to 7:00 Sunday evening. CEMETERY: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church or Southern Care Hospice, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
