Mary Irene Burgoon

Mary Irene Burgoon was born on Tuesday, April 11, 1922, in White City, Kansas. She was the daughter of Elmer and Ethel (Scott) Easter. Mary grew up in Winfield, Kansas, and moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in 1940, where she made her home, until her death on Saturday, September 2, 2006, at the age of eighty-four years. She graduated from Winfield High School in Winfield, Kansas, with the class of 1940. Mary worked as a C-Technician for King Radio of Ottawa for fourteen years. She retired in 1987. She was a member of First Christian Church of Ottawa. Mary was a lovely lady who was dearly devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and embroidery work. She created many beautiful items for her family and friends to cherish through the years. On July 6, 1942, Mary was united in marriage with Clifford Burgoon in Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2001. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet Hopkins; sister, Maxine Ainsworth; four brothers, Dean Easter, Don Easter, Marion Edwards, Eldon Edwards; three grandsons, Travis Burgoon, Joseph Baugher, Kenny Smith; and great-grandson, Benjamin Campbell. Mrs. Burgoon is survived by three daughters, Sandra Brown of Meriden, Kansas, Maxine Stone of Gardner, Kansas, Rosemary Coffman of Ottawa, Kansas; son, Clifford Burgoon of Vassar, Kansas; sister, Lola Warner of Rose Hill, Kansas; two brothers, Lavern Easter of Wichita, Kansas, Lyle Easter of Concordia, Kansas; twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. SERVICE: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2006. IN STATE: Mrs. Burgoon will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Tuesdsay at Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, priore to the service.
