Mary Elizabeth Peuser

July 24, 1936 — April 5, 2019

Mary Elizabeth (Connolly) Peuser, 82, Bucyrus, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Mary was the third of three children born in Kansas City, Missouri to Henry and Margaret Connolly on July 24, 1936. She was raised in Providence, Rhode Island until the age of 13 when she returned to Kansas City. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Paola, Kansas. Mary was united in marriage to Donald E. Peuser on June 7, 1958. Shortly after being married she moved to Alaska where Donald was stationed in the Army and started a family. In 1962, Mary and Donald moved their young family back to Bucyrus where they purchased a small family farm which they maintained a successful farming and dairy operation. She was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the farm. Upon retirement, Donald and Mary enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling (especially with their RV club), attending military reunions and family time at the lake. Mary was a lifelong catholic and was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish in Wea, a member of the Alter Society and served on various church committees over the years. She also volunteered for The Christian Foundation where she made instant friendships. Those that knew Mary knew that she had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. She had an uncanny way of making people always feel welcomed. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Mary too was a dog lover and always had a beloved companion by her side. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Donald, brother Jack Connolly, and parents Margaret and Henry Connolly. She is survived by her four children, Doug and Dana Peuser of Bucyrus, Randy and Edna Peuser of Louisburg, Lorie and Steve Holt of Bucyrus and Joseph and Elizabeth Peuser of Stilwell, eight grandchildren of whom she was very proud, Marlo, Cody, Ryan, Clayton, Kyle, Chelsea, Alex and Emily and one great granddaughter Amelia Anne. She is also survived by a sister whom she dearly loved, Ann Paige of Memphis Tennessee, in-laws Mary Ann Peuser of Gardner, Joanne and Mike McElheny of Tucson, AZ and Robert and Betty Peuser of Bucyrus and numerous nieces and nephews who hold a special place in her heart. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Wea, Bucyrus, Kansas., from 9 to 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Mary will be laid to rest at the Queen of the Holy Rosary-Wea cemetery.
