Mary E. Yakle, 78, of Pomona, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the mortuary. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Mary was born October 15, 1939, in Elk Creek, Missouri, the daughter of Jessie and Addie (Gasser) Field. In 1954, Mary moved to Ottawa, Kansas, from Maitland, Missouri. In 1976, she moved to Quenemo and in 1991, to Pomona. Mary was united in marriage to William Priddy March 1, 1958. They later divorced. Mary was married to Robert Yakle December 31, 1983, in Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Addie Field; daughter, Tonie Standley; son, Thomas Priddy; sister, Addie Lou Trimmer; two brothers, Claude Corbin and Oscar Corbin; and great-grandson, Roudie Cowdin. Survivors include her son, Terry Priddy and wife Diane of Quenemo; eight grandchildren, Andy Leabo of Ottawa, Natasha Priddy of Quenemo, Caleb Priddy of Quenemo, and Corey Priddy also of Quenemo, Wanda Franks of Parsons, Nora Sweetwood of Williamsburg, Mike Cliffton also of Williamsburg, and Julie Cliffton of Ohio; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was employed as a seamstress with H.D. Lee from 1966 to 1988. In 1974, co-owned Bill & Mary’s Pub in Ottawa. She later worked at Green Acres Restaurant and the Ottawa Country Club from 1990 to 1999. Mary delivered weekly grocery ad papers for “Bullseye” Lawrence Journal World from 1997 to 2002. In February 2008, she worked at the Ottawa Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 Ladies Auxiliary; member of the Girls Club of Ottawa; and board member with the Ottawa Senior Center. Mary enjoyed going to Middle Creek to listen to country music, get pictures and autographs of famous singers. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family.
