Mary E. Nordyke

Mary E. Nordyke, 90, of Topeka, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Plaza West Regional Health Center. Family will meet with friends at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Evergreen Mound Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. Mary was born August 22, 1928 at Ransomville, Kansas, the daughter of John I. and Ruth O. (Smith) Duvall the oldest of four daughters. She spent her youth growing up in Pomona, Kansas. She met and married Robert E. Nordyke March 27, 1947, in Seneca, and were married 60 years. They worked along side each other for Union Gas for many years before retiring together in 1989. She loved life and cherished her family. She enjoyed gardening, vacations with family, games and creating crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2007; parents, John and Ruth; and two sisters, Helen Cook and Thelma Shaffer Griffin. Survivors include three sons, Robert D. Nordyke and wife Sue of Silver Lake, Ronald R. Nordyke and wife Connie and Donald D. Nordyke all of Topeka; sister, Lucille Braday of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Timothy Nordyke and wife Phoebe of Holton, Isarel Nordyke and wife Chris, Rob Nordyke and wife Dana all of Topeka, Haly Adams and husband Danny of Burlingame and Rebecca Nordyke of Silver Lake; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
