Mary Bly

Mary Bly, 90, formerly of Ottawa, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Okla. She was born Nov. 3, 1916, at Ottawa to William Joseph and Cecelia (Hazlett) Harkins. She grew up in the Ottawa area, later living in Manhattan, Kansas, Kansas City, Kansas, for two years, Parsons, Kansas for twenty-five years and Ottawa, Kansas for two months before moving to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Mary graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1934. She was a Nurses Aide at several hospitals for over 30 years, retiring in the 1980`s. On August 19, 1935, Mary was united in marriage with Fred John Bly, Sr. in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1986. Survivors include sons, Frederick J. Bly Jr., Alma, and David P. Bly, Manhattan; daughters, Mary (Bly) Hastings, Bartlesville, Okla., and Catherine L. (Bly) Reagan, Savannah, Ga.; sisters, Agnes Wood, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Janie Smith, Wellsville; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by daughter, Sylvia Ann Bly; six brothers; a sister and a grandchild. SERVICES: Graveside funeral services will be held from the Princeton Cemetery 2:30 p.m., Monday July 2, 2007. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Bly at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to the service hour Monday where the family will meet with friends at 1:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
