Mary Blackman

Mary C. Blackman, age 72, of Paola, passed away Monday, June 19, at Olathe Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Paola, KS. Burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Greeley, KS. Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 with visitation to follow, at the church. Mary was born September 3, 1944, in Greeley, the daughter of John W. and Marie H. (Reedy) Setter. After graduating from Greeley High School, she began working at Hallmark in Kansas City followed by Miami County Coop and lastly, Osawatomie State Hospital where she retired in 2008. Mary married Don Blackman June 8, 1974. Two sons were born to this union. They later divorced. Mary enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing pitch and dominoes, casinos, and watching the Kansas City Royals. She held her family close to her heart and lived her faith daily. Mary was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Marie Setter, and her brothers, Raymond, Donald, Delbert, Maurice, and twin Marvin Setter. She is survived by her two sons: Charles and wife, April, Blackman of San Diego, CA, and Donald and wife, Stephanie, Blackman of Osawatomie, KS, four grandchildren: Tyler, Haven, Keeton, and Hudson, three nephews, four nieces, five great-nephews, three great-nieces, two aunts and one sister-in-law. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miami County Cancer Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, or Osawatomie Fire Department.
