Marvin Cox

Marvin D. Cox, Jr., age 68, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away April 9, 2016 at his home. Marvin was born March 11, 1948, at Butler, Missouri. He was the oldest of four children born to Marvin D., Sr., and Vina Mae (Bush) Cox. He attended school in Osawatomie. Marvin was united in marriage to Inez Hancock on January 21, 1967 at Osawatomie. They became the parents of two daughters, Teresa and Debbie. They made their home in Osawatomie. Marvin worked as a truck driver for Hayes Transit Mix a cement company out of Paola for 22 years. He also worked at Osawatomie State Hospital for 10 years in their power plant. Marvin didn't leave much idle time, as he worked 16 hours a day, not much time for hobbies. He did enjoy mechanical projects in his garage. Often he could be found working on transmissions as well as other auto repairs at very reduced rates and a lot of times at no charge. He enjoyed being with others and helping others whenever he could, never expecting anything in return. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Joyce Clifton and Roberta Spellman, and one grandson Trevor Lewis. He is survived by his wife Inez of the home; two daughters and their spouses Teresa (Kenny) Cawby of Osawatomie and Debbie (Jonathan) Traxson of Newton, KS; his sister Deana Gillenwater of Topeka; 3 grandsons David Kilbourn, Dylan Robison, and Justin Lewis; 2 great grandchildren Grant and Kylie Kilbourn; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
