Marvel Morgan

Marvel Morgan, age 75 of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away with her family by her side after a long battle with many health issues, on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at her residence in Ottawa. She was born on May 18, 1937, the daughter of Marvin and Millie (Jennings) Montgomery. She has been a lifelong resident of Ottawa, Kansas. Marvel graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1955. Marvel was a homemaker. She worked at the Dutch Maid in Ottawa as a waitress in the 1950’s; Brisco Drug Store in the fountain area in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s; Queens Carry Out as a cook in the 1970’s; King Radio in assembly in the mid 1970’s and 1980’s, retiring in the mid 1980’s. Marvel’s grandchildren were the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed shopping with her grandchildren, KU Basketball, NASCAR Races, Wheel of Fortune and dogs and cats. She was a member of the West 15th Street Church of Christ in Ottawa. On May 3, 1958, Marvel was united in marriage with Gerald L. Barnes in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1961. On December 22, 1967, Marvel was united in marriage with Frank Luther Morgan in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2002. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Morgan at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. Saturday and 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday,where the family will meet with friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. She is survived by her: Son-Terry Barnes of Ottawa, Kansas; Granddaughter-Sheridan Barnes and Granddaughter-Cameron Barnes. She is preceded in death by her: Two Brothers-Mervin and Merl Montgomery. SERVICES: Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 11, 2013 at Highland Cemetery.
