Marvel L. Sipe, 98, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away at her home with family by her side on Monday, October 19, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2020, at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. Marvel was born August 24, 1922, at Meridian, Oklahoma, the daughter of Howe and Phoebe (Newland) Lowery. She was the last of her family of 10 brothers and sisters. She lived in various locations throughout her life including, Ottawa since the early 1990’s, Williamsburg, Kansas since 1978, Atascadero, California, Bakersfield, California, and Oklahoma. She completed the 4th grade; the rest of her education was life itself. Marvel was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Sipe December 6, 1939, at Guthrie, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2007. They were happily married nearly 68 years and had four children. For 81 years, Marvel was a devoted homemaker. Family was the priority of her life and activities always centered around them. She enjoyed reading sewing, gardening, dancing, and singing. She was a former member of the Homewood Christian Church. Marvel was also preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, and daughter, Barbara Ruyle. Survivors include her three children, Viola (Kerry) O’Day of Ottawa, Archie (Debbie) Sipe of Bakersfield, California, and Carolyn Corgan of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
