Martin Leon Spiess, age 52, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 1, 2020. Martin was always known as Marty to all his friends and family. Marty was born on August 30, 1967, the third of five children to Leonard Eugene and, Lillian Mae (DeMarais) Spiess, which include sister Debbie Lee, Albert Eugene, Kenneth Dale and Christopher Robin. Marty graduated from Turner in 1985. Marty was a member of a close-knit CB group from Olathe and Overland Park over the years. He was married to Laura Lee and that marriage later ended in divorce. Marty had three children, daughter Elizabeth and then had two children that were adopted. He was reunited with his son Aaron several years later. Marty did various jobs throughout his life but loved truck driving. Marty moved to Miami County in 1999 and went to work at the State Hospital as a MHA. He took some college courses while working there. In 2002, Marty met the love of his life Amanda Hoover. They were united in marriage in 2003. Marty was very passionate about woodworking, NASCAR, and his family. He never met a stranger and always helped his family and friends when they needed help. Marty is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his sister Debbie Lee Stephens on July 8, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 17 years Amanda of the home, daughter Elizabeth Spiess, son Aaron Lessandro (Chelsey), three girls who looked to Marty as a father Renesha Prasko, Victoria Prasko, Cindy Fortner (James), 10 grandchildren, 3 brothers Albert Eugene Spiess (Vicki), Kenneth Dale Spiess, Christopher Robin Spiess (Amber), plus many nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration will be held at a later date.
