Martha Jane Yancey, 91, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at Wellsville Health & Rehab, Wellsville, Kansas.
Graveside service will be held 12:00pm, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas.
Family will greet friends from 10:00-11:30am at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, and proceed in procession to the graveside service.
Martha was born Saturday, May 13, 1933, in Knob Noster, Missouri, the daughter of Albert and Louise (Hurt) Tempel.
She lived in Princeton, Kansas form 1968 until 2000 when she moved to Ottawa, Kansas.
Martha graduated from College High School in Warrensburg, Missouri, with the class of 1951.
She was united in marriage on June 25, 1955, in Warrensburg, Missouri, to Forrest Gene Yancey. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1995.
Martha worked as a nurse for many years working with both Dr. Hadley and Dr. Seto. She also volunteered her time with Ransom Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church and the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Martha spent many years helping her husband on their farm, and enjoyed traveling, reading, and taking long walks. She especially loved her time spent with family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Along with her husband Forrest, Martha was preceded in death by parents Albert and Louise; brothers Harland Tempel and Leon Tempel; and sister Wilma Warner.
Survivors include sons Ron Yancey (Pam) of Weir, Kansas and Lyle Yancey (Sue) of Princeton, Kansas; brother Keith Tempel of Harrisonville, Missouri; sister-in-law Judy Yancey of Holden, Missouri; five grandchildren Brian (May) Yancey of Olathe, Kansas, Cole Yancey (Liv Grant) of Albany, New York, Kayla Lambert (James) of Greenwood, Missouri, Katie Loy (Kyle) of Centerton, Arkansas, and Laura Yancey (McKenzie) of Warrensburg, Missouri; and five great grandchildren Sophia Yancey, Jace Lambert, Jessa Lambert, Jett Lambert, and Avery Loy.
