Marsha Louise Likens Schmoe, age 61 of Baldwin City, Kansas, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at Richmond Care Center. Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 30, 2013. Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Schmoe at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 P.M. Thursday, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Marsha was born on Thursday, February 21, 1952 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Gilbert Duane and Nadine Marie (Faulk) Likens. She grew up in Topeka and lived several places, including Lawrence, Kansas before moving to Ottawa in 1990 and to rural Baldwin City in 1999. Marsha graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka, Kansas with the class of 1970 and from Ottawa University, where she majored in Economics, graduating in 1993 with a B.A. On September 14, 2006 Marsha was united in marriage with Merlin Schmoe in Wichita, Kansas. He survives of their home. Survivors include her husband, Merlin Schmoe of Baldwin City, Kansas; two sons, Daniel J. Bourne, Jr. of Florida, and Parrish E. Bourne of El Dorado, Kansas; step-son, Bradley Schmoe of Albany, Illinois; mother, Nadine Kelly of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Kathy Marolf and husband Rick of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Gary Likens and wife Carey of Topeka, Kansas; and step-sister, Leslie May Pruyn of Aurora, Illinois. Marsha was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert D. Likens; and step-father, Prentis Kelly. She worked as a manager at several convenience stores and for a while at Country Mart as a cake decorator. Marsha was a former member and past president of Aerie Lodge #2700 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ottawa.
