Marlene Leach, 76, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away on May 15, 2018 peacefully at home with her adoring family by her side. Marlene was born January 6, 1942 at her family’s home in Paola, Kansas to the late Lowell & Minerva Jane Darner. She was the youngest of five children. She grew up in Paola graduating from Paola High School in 1959. Marlene was united in marriage to the love of her life Elwood “Woody” Leach on October 14, 1960 in Ottawa, Kansas. They made their home on a farm in rural Osawatomie, Kansas. Together they farmed and ran many businesses. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Osawatomie. Her faith is what sustained her and was a source of strength. She read her Bible daily and was a great and faithful servant of Christ. Marlene was a devoted homemaker, mother and caretaker. She nursed her husband and her two children during their terminal illnesses with much love and compassion. She loved her family, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were her world. She was a devoted, fun-loving mother and grandmother who always gave her time and heart. Marlene loved to go to auctions and flea markets, she enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers, and was an avid QVC shopper. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends and family. She will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband Woody Leach, son Kurtis Leach, daughter Tiffanie Ohmes, infant daughter Michelle Leach, grandson Scott Leach, sisters Thelma Henderson and Vera Lentz, and brother Eldon Darner. She will be deeply mourned by her son, Bradley Leach and his wife Lori of Rantoul, son-in-law Michael Ohmes of Osawatomie, brother Kenneth Darner and his wife Donna of Lane, grandchildren Dee Leach, Matthew Leach and his wife Tara, Jessica McMechan, and Lisianna Ohmes, great grandchildren Marlee Leach, Gabe and Gavin McMechan, Scott, Austin, Dillon, and Julia Leach, and many adoring nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Baptist Church, Osawatomie, Kansas. Visitation is 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the chapel. Burial is in Osawatomie Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged to post their condolences and memories on Marlene's Tribute Wall.
