Mark E. Schmidt

Mark E. Schmidt, 53, of rural Osawatomie died Monday night, February 1, 2010 at KU Hospital. Born October 17, 1956, Mark grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Bishop Miege and J. C. Harmon High School. He graduated in 1974. He was one of the founding partners of Torre's Pizza of Westport and later sold his portion of the restaurant. He then became a painting contractor while living in Kansas City, Missouri most of his life. Moving to Osawatomie in 2000, he continued to commute, as well as work locally. He played baseball for many years and loved to fish, hunt and play golf. He and Brenda celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in October of 2009. Preceding him in death were his parents, Eugene and Laura Schmidt of Kansas City, Kansas and his stepson, Anthony Brooks Moretine of the home. Survivors include his wife Brenda of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Breanna and Roger Epperson; and sister"s Janice Schmidt and Carolyn Bay of Olathe.
