Marjorie Brown, age 88, of Richmond, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Richmond Care Center in Richmond, Kansas. She was born on Thursday, February 8, 1923, in Columbus, Kansas, the daughter of Marion “Pete” and Minnie (Laizure) Amos. Marjorie moved from Columbus to Orange, Texas in 1969; retired to Springdale, Arkansas in 1982; and moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 2001. She graduated from Columbus (Kansas) High School with the class of 1941. Marjorie was a homemaker. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of First Methodist Church and Eastern Star, both in Columbus, Kansas. In April of 1946, Marjorie was united in marriage with Bill Brown in Joplin, Missouri. He preceded her in death in July of 1996. She is survived by her: Son-Steven Brown and his wife, Cathy, of Ottawa, Kansas Brother-Charles Amos and his wife, Dorothy, of Columbus, Kansas Brother-Robert “Gene” Amos of Yakima, Washington Sister-Joan Holland of Joplin, Missouri Grandchildren (3)-Mitchel Brown and his wife, Dawn, of Lenexa, Kansas Stephanie Brown of Olathe, Kansas Sarah Brown Knudsen and her husband, Monte, of Olathe, Kansas Gt.Grandchildren-Five She is preceded in death by: Husband-Bill Brown Parents-Marion “Pete” and Minnie Amos Daughter-Janet Brown Markivee Sister-Frances Laughlin Sister-Helen Diacon SERVICES: Private family services will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Galena, Kansas. IN STATE: Mrs. Brown has been cremated. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Richmond Healthcare Activity Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
