Marilyn (GMA) Meyer, 82 of Lawrence, Kansas was called home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Family will meet with friends at the mortuary from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday December 4, 2024. Funeral service will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, KS, 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 5, 2024. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.
Marilyn was born on Monday, January 26, 1942 in Nemaha County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Leland and Mae Bearce. Marilyn moved to Ottawa in 1969 from Hiawatha, Kansas where she lived during her younger years. She graduated from Hiawatha High School, Hiawatha, KS with the class of 1960. On August 28, 1960 she was united in marriage with William “Bill” Meyer in Hiawatha. Marilyn was Confirmed in the Christian Faith at the Zion Lutheran Church of Hiawatha, Kansas on March 12, 1961. When first moving to Ottawa she worked as a baker at Ottawa University and later at King Radio (Honeywell) where she retired in 2000. Marilyn was known to many as Mom and/or M & M. She loved woodworking, cooking, baking, fishing, spending her summers at the lake in her camper with lake friends and traveling in RV with Bill.
Survivors include her three children, Jeff Meyer and wife Lou of Wellsville, Kansas, Shari Geist of Lawrence, Kansas and Dawn Carter and husband David of Lawrence, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Trenton Meyer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Cole Meyer and his wife Kelsie of Wellsville, Kansas, Blake Meyer and his wife Gina of Wellsville, Kansas, Greg Perry and his wife Laura of Wellsville, Kansas, Jennifer Stadter and her husband Rich of Camdenton, Missouri, Ashley Carter of Lawrence, Kansas and Amber Torneden and husband Caleb of Lawrence, Kansas; ten great grandchildren, Emmy, Brexen, Brantley, Lizzie, Harvey, Henry, Layla Jo, Rhett, Lydia, Oliver and two on the way; brothers David Bearce and wife Marie of Riverview, Michigan and Earl Bearce and wife Judy of Robinson, Kansas; brother in laws Dennis Johnson of Atlantic, Iowa and Gary Meyer and wife Sheree of Pinewood, South Carolina; her four legged baby Abby.
She was preceded in death by husband Bill Meyer, her parents Leland and Mae Bearce and sister-in-law Deanna Johnson.
The family suggests memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association or Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son.
