Marilyn Jean Malaise

March 13, 1935 — January 15, 2019

Marilyn Jean (Williams) Malaise, age 83, of Louisburg, Kan., passed away on January 15, 2019, at Olathe Hospice House. After a wonderful life and then years of battling cancer, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born March 13, 1935 in Osage, Iowa, to Arthur and Golda (Nelson) Williams. Along with her parents, Marilyn was proceeded in death by her sister Berdene and brother Gary. Marilyn met her best friend and sweetheart – Dale Malaise – when they were 11 years old at Bible camp. She went to St. Paul Bible College in Minnesota and worked as an accountant and later in real estate/property management. Dale and Marilyn were married on June 1st, 1957. (She wanted to be a June Bride.) They spent 61 wonderful years loving each other, serving the Lord, traveling the world, and making disciples. All three daughters were born in Minnesota before moving to Kansas. They lived in Overland Park, then Linn Valley Lake for 15 years before moving to Louisburg in 2004. Marilyn was an avid reader, loved to make plans and share her ideas, enjoyed traveling, and she was an inspiration to all. She was also known as “Smiley!” (always had a smile on her face). Marilyn loved to travel and looked forward to new things; she started traveling at a very young age. In the 1940s and 1950s, she traveled on the railroad from Iowa to New York, Chicago, New Orleans, and all over the United States with her mother, Golda. As an adult, Marilyn traveled with Dale overseas to Germany, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Scotland, Austria, Israel, Estonia, and other countries. (Was it 14 trips to Europe?) After retiring, Dale and Marilyn were “snowbirds” and they stayed in Destin, Florida during the winter months for 10 years. She is survived by her husband, Dale, three daughters and their spouses, Cheryl (Rick) Clodfelter, Vicki (Doug) Johnson, and Pamela (John) Rodriguez, five grandchildren and their spouses, Pamela (Burla) Travis, Steven Clodfelter, Carl Johnson, Nicolas (Jennifer) Rodriguez, and Zack Rodriguez; three great grandchildren, Katelynn, Madalynn and Brooklynn; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Marilyn is also survived by her amazing brother Hilmore "Sonny" Williams. Mom also had two ‘adopted’ daughters: Mindy and Joy. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steven Clodfelter, Carl Johnson, Nico Rodriguez, Zack Rodriguez, and Burla Travis. Marilyn will be greatly missed by family and friends, and her unwavering faith is inspiring. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Louisburg, 406 S Vine St, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church burial to follow in the Louisburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International - an association to spread the Good News by providing Bibles and New Testaments.
