Marie Ann Rohrer

Marie Ann (Seuferling) Rohrer, age 88, died December 22,2017 in Baldwin, KS, with family at her side. Marie was born and raised on the family farm near Bucyrus, KS on December 10,1929. She attended Centerpoint Grade School and graduated from Louisburg High School in 1948. She completed nurses training at Providence Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for 35 1/2 years at the Osawatomie State Hospital. She married Daryl Rohrer December 1,1951 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Wea, KS. They moved to the Rohrer family farm, north of Osawatomie in 1952. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 156, Miami County Medical Center Auxiliary, St Philip Neri Church Altar Society, Friends of the Mentally Ill and the Miami County Quilt Guild. Marie helped out on the farm, had a large vegetable garden, fruit trees and many flowers. She canned fruits and vegetables for many years. She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for her daughters, embroidery, and quilting. She made each of her grandchildren a quilt for their high school graduation, using their school colors. She also made a baby quilt for each of her great-grandchildren. Marie greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her face would light up when she saw them and she enjoyed sharing her love of chocolate with them. After retiring, she and Daryl spent several years traveling to and spending winters in Texas and Arizona. They made many friends while traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.J. and Minnie (Phillips) Seuferling, brother Martin J. Seuferling, husband Daryl Rohrer, and brother-in-law, David Roseberry. Survivors include: Marjorie Seuferling, twin sister, and Helen Roseberry, sister, Osawatomie, Ks, daughters: Debra (Bill) Griffith,rural Paola, Ks, Darlene (Lynn) Wobker, rural Osawatomie, Ks and Cheryl (David) Brownback, Ellsworth, Ks, grandchildren: Angela (Susie) Griffith-Hizey,rural Paola, Kimberli (Nicholas) Bean, Sr, rural Paola and Fred (Leah) Griffith, Pittsburg, Mo, Nick Wobker, Gardner, KS, Jeff (Susie) Brownback, Andover, Ks and Doug (Michelle) Brownback, Rockford,MI, great-grandchildren: Caden, Greyson, and Quinn Griffith-Hizey, Nicholas Jr and Declan Bean, Ava and Asher Griffith, J.P. and Luke Brownback, Olivia and Everly Brownback and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be December 29,2017 at St. Philip Neri Church, 514 Parker Ave, Osawatomie,Ks. The Rosary will be at 9:30am, followed by visitation at 10:00am and the funeral Mass at 11:00am. Burial will be at the Paola Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St Philip Neri Church, Air Conditioning and Heating Fund and sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Friends and family are encouraged to post their memories and condolences on Marie's tribute wall.
