Margie Thompson

Margie Thompson, 89,long time resident of Osawatomie, passed away December 29, 2011 at Vintage Park At Paola, Paola, Kansas. Graveside Service,Thursday January 5, 2:00 PM at the Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, Kansas. Margie was born April 16, 1922 in Alexander, Kansas. She was the sixth of eight children born to Gus William and Lillie Mae Hulse Geckles. She graduated from high school in 1940. Margie met her husband to be in Burbank, California. She was united in marriage to Royal Travis Thompson on March 1, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona. They became the parents of two daughters, while living in the San Fernando Valley area of Southern California until they moved to Osawatomie, Kansas in 1976. Margie played numerous musical instruments, the harmonica being her favorite. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, sewing, embroidering and craft projects. She was a faithful follower in the Lord"s word. Margie was a member of the Faith Fellowship of Love Church in Osawatomie, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her husband Tex on July 17, 2004, her daughter Gloria L., three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her daughter Lilly Patricia Weatherford and two grandchildren, Lisa D. Hoey and Trisha G. Orsino of Washington.
