Margie N. Conner

Margie Nadine (Warner) Conner passed away peacefully on May 30, 2017. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. Private family services will be held. She was born on December 17, 1925 to Ernest “E.W.” and Eva (Valentine) Warner in Princeton, Kansas. The family moved to Ottawa in 1941 and Margie graduated from Ottawa High School in 1942. After the war, she went to work at the Franklin County engineer’s office in the courthouse in Ottawa. She met her future husband, Robert Conner through mutual friends and the two were married on June 13, 1948. Daughter Cheryl arrived one year later on May 3, 1949. In 1955, the Conner family moved to California. Bob and Margie divorced in 1971 and Bob moved to Arkansas where he resided until his death in 1989. Margie and Cheryl remained in California until August 2015, when they “came home” to Ottawa. Margie loved to travel, having taken several cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and Australia. She loved to play bingo and going to casinos. She also loved the local California sports teams, the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco Giants and the Golden State Warriors, especially Steph Curry. She is survived by her only child, Cheryl; nieces, Sharon Shackelford of Farmersville, California, Karen Dryden and her husband, Steve of Ottawa, Connie Billbe and her husband, Kevin of Cookeville, Tennessee; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Betty Jean Schultz and Geraldine Johnson; great nephews, Michael and Derick Dryden and great-great nieces, Lilianna Kelso and Sadye Circle. The family would like to say many thanks to the caregivers in the Traditions Unit at Richmond Healthcare, whose compassion knows no bounds.
