Margie Lee Jones, 83, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 with family at her side. Private family inurnment will be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Margie was born April 1, 1935 in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Phyllis (Mcgee) Jones. She grew up in Richmond, moving to Ottawa when she was just nine years old. Margie graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1954. Survivors include her sister, Colleen Crane of Ottawa; aunt, Goldie Adams of Osage City; nieces and nephews, Gary Crane and wife Pam of Ottawa, Terry Crane of Ottawa, Sheri Whitaker and husband Ron of Overbrook, and Ace (aka Kerry) Kloog and husband Shawn of Gardner; and many great nieces and nephews that truly loved her. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Phyllis Jones; life partner, Leota Thompson; niece, Kandee Crane; and brother-in-law Ralph Crane. Margie was employed with H.D. Lee Company following high school, where she worked for 30 years. She left H.D. Lee and started refinishing furniture, becoming well known for her beautiful work. Margie and her life partner, Leota Thompson, opened an antique shop named Pastime Antiques that they ran for many years. She loved to go fishing and hunting and going to flea markets. She and Leota walked many miles looking for arrowheads, obtaining a large collection over the years. The family would like the thank Brookside Manor in Overbrook for all the special love and care they gave Margie during her stay.
