Margaret Douglass Ford

Douglass grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, lived twenty years in western Massachusetts, and lived one year in Baldwin City, Kansas, before moving to Ottawa in 1999. Douglass graduated from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Virginia with the class of 1964, from Virginia Intermont College in Bristal, Virginia in 1966 with an Associates of Arts Degree, and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1994. Douglass worked from 1998 until the present as a Program Manager for Sprint North Supply Tek Net Group, New Century, Kansas. Earlier, she worked as Interim Director of Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and, as Development Officer at Pine Cobble School in Williamstown, Massachusetts, with prior employment positions in Great Barrington, Pittsfield and Springfield, all in Massachusetts. Douglass was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ottawa, the International Society of Performance Improvement, City of Fountains Course in Overland Park, Kansas, and a Supper Buddy with ECKAN. She was involved in community service as co-founder of the Community Resource Center Food Pantry, St. George`s Church, and a Charter member of Earth Angels, both in Lee, Massachusetts; served two years on the Allocations Committee for the Berkshires, Massachusetts United Way, and volunteered five years for United Way at Sprint. On December 6, 1969, Douglass was united in marriage with Denis B. Ford at Lynchburg, Virginia. He survives of their home. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, Ottawa, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: The Rt. Rev. Dean E. Wolfe, Bishop of Kansas IN STATE: The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday evening at Grace Episcopal Church. CEMETERY: Cremation is planned following services. MEMORIALS: The family requests no flowers, please, but suggests memorials to Grace Episcopal Church Memorial Garden Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
