Margaret Ann Apple

Margaret Ann Alexander Apple, age 85, Louisburg, KS, passed peacefully from this world February 7, 2013 with family by her side. Margaret was born December 2, 1927 to Robert Lee Alexander and Ruth Lalia Miller Alexander in the community of Haynesville, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. Growing up in rural northern Louisiana, Margaret graduated from Harris High School in 1945. With a shortage of nurses during World War II, Margaret applied and was selected to join the United States Cadet Nurse Corp and graduated from nursing school in 1948. Margaret married Nathan Towner Apple and they later divorced. In 1970 Margaret became qualified as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas. She worked at Shawnee Mission Hospital as head nurse on 2-South in the pediatric department until her retirement in 1992. Margaret"s home was in Shawnee, Kansas until 2009 when she moved to Vintage Park in Louisburg. Margaret had the gift of hospitality and the gift of service for others as demonstrated by her years of caring for those while in the hospital. Margaret was strong in her Christian faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Faye Sanders. She leaves behind countless friends and loved ones, son Nathan L. Apple and wife Sue Truman Apple, son Pat Apple and wife Debbie McCormick Apple, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed.
