Marcia Gentry, age 68, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019. She was born in Dodge City, KS on October 30, 1951. Marcia was blessed with musical talent on the piano and organ which she shared with churches, schools, and families throughout her life. Most recently, she enjoyed playing at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa and West Franklin USD 287. She was a life member of the Union Chapter No. 15, Order of the Eastern Star just receiving her 50-year pin. She loved accompanying school and church choirs; music was her passion. Marcia was a servant leader spending the first several years with her husband serving the community of Alma, KS and surrounding area as the owners of the funeral home there. You could always find Marcia playing for a wedding, supporting the local schools’ music and sporting programs, or working downtown at Gentry’s Home Furnishings (later Gentry Entertainment). Marcia was predeceased by her husband, Galen Gentry. She was also predeceased by her brother, Mike Ramsey and father, Floyd Eugene “Gene” Ramsey. Marcia is survived by her mother, Anne Ramsey; sister, Jo Peterson; and brother, Kent Ramsey and wife Bonnie. She is also survived by her son, Chris Gentry and wife Dawn; daughter, Kim Miller and husband Aaron; and daughter, Trisha Hudson and husband Kendall. She has five grandchildren, Austin, Adam and Aden Miller and Jack and Olivia Gentry. The family gives their warmest gratitude to her family and church friends that cared for and supported her through her health struggles over the past several years. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 401 W. 13th Street, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to service at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery, Alma, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church Music Department c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
