Manuel Blanco

Manuel Blanco, Sr. was born on Tuesday, August 23, 1921, in Quenemo, Kansas. He was the son of Salvador and Guadalupe (Sambrno) Blanco. Manuel lived in Ottawa, moving to Chicago for a short time, before moving to Topeka. From there, he moved to Kansas City in 1950 and Las Vegas, Nevada on November 5, 1980, where he made his home until his death on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the age of eighty-five years. Manuel was employed by Kansas City Power & Light Co. on April 24, 1951, where he worked in the underground department and later as a night watchman, retiring February 31, 1979. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1464, Kansas City, Missouri. On September 3, 1941, Manuel was united in marriage with Rose Arreguin in Lawrence, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 4, 1998. He is also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lorenzo, Poncino and Jesse Blanco; and sister, Juanita Nunez. Manuel is survived by two sons, Raymond Blanco and his wife, Frances, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Manuel Blanco, Jr. of Las Vegas; two daughters, Josephine Garrison and her husband, John, of Las Vegas, Mary Louise Goble and her husband, John, of Mission, Kansas; sister, Romona Cannova of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Barney Blanco of Ottawa; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Family and friends will meet for visitation at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2007, at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. CEMETERY: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
